Offered here is a scarce vintage Automatic Racing Game manufactured in Japan by Haji in the 1950s. This toy consists of a colorful tin lithographed garage and three small race cars. The side of the garage is stamped “Haji Japan”. The garage measures approximately 5 ¾ inches long, 5 3/8 inches wide and 2 ¾ inches high (to the top of the red button). The three tin ‘penny toy’ style racing cars with silhouette drivers measure approximately 2 ¼ inches long, 1 ½ inches wide and 1 inch high. The three cars are placed in their respective lanes. The red lever is pulled back. Then the red button is pressed, causing three metal rods to shoot out from the garage and pop into the backs of the cars, pushing them forward. The toy operates as intended. The car that goes the furthest wins the race. Not exactly high tech car racing but a very neat vintage toy from the 50s that is rarely seen. It would make a great addition to any vintage auto/toy collection. The toy is in excellent condition. There are no dents or major areas of paint loss. The box however is rough. There’s major wear in the corners and assorted tears. There is tape on the cover and box, holding the seams together. The box has a sticker on the side that reads ”Distributed in U.S.A. by Flare Import Corp. New York ”. There’s another sticker that reads “Medium Quality JIS Z-7101” ???. Please see photos for a more detailed description. The box manages to retain its shape and the cool graphics on the cover are readily visible.
