The company installed the first commercial steam turbine-driven generator, nicknamed Mary-Ann, at Hartford Electric Light Co. in 1901. This was a significant milestone as it was the first steam turbine generator to be used by an electric utility in the United States. Westinghouse then played a crucial role in the conversion of Niagara Falls into an electric power source, which began operations in 1895 and continued to expand in the early 1900s. The company was involved in the electrification of the Interborough Rapid Transit (IRT) system in New York City, which opened in 1904. The company also produced electric railway motors, producing approximately 75,000 by 1905. Track Page Views With Auctiva’s Counter
