Vintage Photograph Album Made in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil Undated, however this album is vintage. The wooden covers were hand-made and decorated . Thick wooden covers with marquetry image of South America ; inlaid woods of various tones & grains to create representations of the several South American countries. The wooden countries were cut, individually, of several South American woods, sliced in a thin veneer, and fitted together like a puzzle to form the continent. Also, inlaid wooden border, with mitered corners. Brazil Venezuela Colombia Peru Chile Argentina Bolivia Ecuador Paraguay Uruguay Guyana Suriname French Guiana The album has 24 leaves ( two-sided), with textured wax-paper guards, for mounting 48 photographs. The original tasseled roping is still in place, which binds the album together. Very solidly and well constructed. Closed, this vintage album is about 5.5″ x 8″ There are two small original tags on the inside of the rear cover. One tag identifies the maker ( Portuguese language ): ” Fabrica De Albuns Rosirio Ltda. Rua Ferreira Pontes , 69 A Tel. 38 1760 , Rio De Janeiro Industria Brasileira ” This album was probably brought back to the United States as a souvenir of a visit to Brazil, many years ago. Just light wear. The album was never used, and all leaves are still blank and untouched. A few of the wax-paper guards have a crease; all are still present. Overall, in very good condition.
